Shashwati Talukdar, Director/Producer, was educated in India and the US and began working in the film and television industry as an assistant editor for a TV show by Michael Moore in 1999. Since then she has worked on projects for HBO, BBC, Lifetime, Sundance and Cablevision. In 2001, she produced a documentary on Mahasweta Devi, an eminent writer and activist, who is revered by the Chhara community. Her films have screened at venues including the Margaret Mead Festival, Berlin and the Whitney Biennial. She has been supported by entities including the Jerome Foundation, NYSCA, IFP Project Involve Fellowship and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
P. Kerim Friedman, is an assistant professor in the Department of Indigenous Cultures at National Dong Hwa University, where he teaches linguistic and visual anthropology. His research explores the relationship between language, ideology and political economy in Taiwan. He is a founding member of the group anthropology blog Savage Minds and a documentary filmmaker.
